Patchwork (“we,” “our,” “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our web application.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of data when you use Patchwork:

  • Account Information (via OAuth providers)
    • Discord ID and username
    • Email address
    • Chosen Patchwork username
    • Authentication provider (e.g., Discord, future Google support)
  • Subscription & Billing Information
    • Plan details (active status, expiry date, plan type)
    • Stripe Customer ID (linked to your account in Stripe)
  • Uploaded Media
    • Media files you upload for processing (temporarily stored, then removed after processing — see Retention below)

We do not currently collect technical data such as device details, IP addresses, or analytics data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

  • To authenticate and manage your account
  • To provide and improve service features
  • To personalize your experience (e.g., user settings)
  • To manage subscriptions and billing through Stripe
  • To process uploaded media and deliver edited results back to you

We do not currently use your information for advertising, tracking, or profiling.

3. Sharing of Information

We only share your information in limited circumstances:

  • Stripe (Payments) To process payments, we share necessary information (e.g., email, billing details) with our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store payment card details ourselves.
  • Legal Requirements We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

We do not sell user data to third parties.

4. Data Storage & Security

  • Storage Location: Your data is stored in a secure MongoDB server located in the EU.
  • Security Measures: Access is restricted by username/password and IP whitelisting.
  • Retention:
    • Account data is retained indefinitely unless you request deletion.
    • Uploaded media is deleted after processing. Processed outputs may be stored for up to 3 months.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location (UK, EU, US, and others), you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your data.
  • Portability: Request your data in a structured, commonly used format.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

  • We use local storage (e.g., Pinia state persistence) to store application data such as settings.
  • We do not currently use cookies, analytics, or third-party trackers.

If we introduce cookies in the future, we will provide a cookie banner and update this policy accordingly.

7. Children’s Privacy

Patchwork is not intended for children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will notify you by email or through an in-app notice.
